Workshop Presentations

Vessels of Mercy (Vocation Discernment)
Presenter(s): Fr. Chris Rogers, Fr. Dave Engo, OFM, Cap. & Sr. Marianne Lallone, IHM
Throughout the history of the Church, her priests and nuns have been vessels of mercy to all of us. Through administering the sacraments and serving through many forms of charitable acts, these humble servants of Jesus continue to this day to show us the mercy of God through their lives. Is God calling YOU to be one of these vessels of mercy to His people? Come listen to the stories of three who have heard and accepted the call of Jesus in their lives and allow them to offer you some guidance and inspiration on how to discern if Christ is calling you.

Sin and Mercy (The Sacrament of Reconciliation)
Presenter: TBA (Jim Beckman or JP Kasperowicz)
All of us sin and fall short of the glory of God. All of us are in need of God’s mercy throu8gh forgiveness of our sins. And God has given us the Sacrament of Reconciliation to show us this great mercy. But sometimes we are afraid of going: “I’m too ashamed of my sins. Won’t the priest think bad of me? I don’t remember how to go? God couldn’t forgive me.” Sound familiar? In this workshop we will answer these questions and you will learn more about this amazing sacrament and how to include it in your life on a regular basis.

Doubt and Mercy (Catholic Apologetics)
Presenter: TBA (Jim Beckman or JP Kasperowicz)
All of us, especially young people, can have doubts or questions about God, Jesus, the Bible and/or the Catholic Faith. Sometimes we even wonder if there is any Truth in the world in the first place. The world and our culture would have us believe that all things are relative, from the way we live to the way we believe and that it is up to us as individuals to find our own way through the endless stream of information that flows through and around us everyday. But this is not the case. God in His mercy desires us to know Him. And not just to know about Him, but to know Him: the Way, the Truth and the Life. In this workshop we will take your questions about Truth, morality, God, Jesus, the Bible and the Catholic Faith and provide you with the meaningful answers your heart is searching for.

Fear and Mercy (Trusting in Jesus)
Presenter: Scott M. Anthony
At the end of every Divine Mercy Chaplet we pray “Jesus I Trust In You”. But do we? In this workshop we will explore our fears and how they reveal to us a lack of trust in Jesus Christ. As followers of Jesus, we need to be able to trust Him in all things. This workshop will show you “whys” and “hows” of trusting Jesus. Part of this workshop will include a paired, hands-on activity.

Sex and the City of God (Theology of the Body for Teens) **SESSION #1 ONLY**
Presenters: Fr. Juan Puigbo and Carmen Briceño
Join a unique experience of encounter with God in the light of John Paul II's Theology of the Body, and discover your sense of purpose. This workshop is designed for teens who seek a better understanding of the true meaning of sex and sexuality as divine creation where teens will be able to dive into the topic of what is now called the "new sexual revolution."

Teens and Mercy (Youth Culture 101) **SESSION #2 ONLY**ADULTS ONLY!!**
Presenter: Tom Fertal
Our teens live in a world and a media culture that is anything but merciful. How can Catholic youth ministers and parents respond to the pressures our teens face each day and help them to see the hope and mercy of Jesus in a world increasingly hostile to faith? This multi-media workshop will show us what we are up against and give us strategies to help our teens survive and flourish. Sensitivity warning: This workshop is rated PG-13 and is for adults only.
